UP schools to shut - UP Govt

The administration of Uttar Pradesh, which chose to open physical education schools on Thursday, stressed that student attendance is not required and that if the Covid situation deteriorates classrooms might be closed again.
Speaking to the State Legislative Council, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma answered the query by Dhruv Kumar Tripathi from the teaching district.

"Participation is not obligatory in basic education.
We did not need attendance for sessions between 9 and 12," stated Mr Sharma.

"Offline education should also be launched, but for a limited duration, guardians, teachers and political groups," he added.

"The current climate of UP is enough safe, but we may also close schools if there is any sign of concerns (in relation to Covid)," he said.

Mr. Tripathi also questioned Jai Pratap Singh, health minister, if there had been any immunisation arrangements for instructors and children under the age of 18.

SP member Shatrudra Prakash questioned the minister in a supplementary question if it is safe for little children to go to school without immunisation.

He answered that the vaccination is not currently accessible for children under the age of 18, but is scheduled to be released in September.
He added a campaign is being initiated to inoculate youngsters when the vaccine is ready.

From August 16, schools for grades 9 through 12 were opened by the state government.
They will be open from 23 August for classes six to eight and from 1 September for courses one to five.
